It is a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_adaptation" title="Film adaptation">film adaptation</a> of the 1985 <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonfiction" title="Nonfiction">nonfiction</a> book <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiseguy_(book)" title="Wiseguy (book)"><em>Wiseguy</em></a> by Pileggi.
