GBW #53: Reunited (Days of Thunder / Skyscraper / Waterworld)

<p>Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!</p> <p>This week, Ryan and Chris dive into director/actor reunions after their previous film was a big hit. We start with "<strong>Days of Thunder</strong>," a re-team of <strong>Tom Cruise</strong> and <strong>Tony Scott</strong> after the massive success of "<strong>Top Gun</strong>," and though it made less than half of what "Top Gun" made, we argue it's the stronger film. Then, we discuss "<strong>Skyscraper</strong>," a "Die Hard" clone that sees comedy director<strong> Rawson Marshall Thurber</strong> reteam with <strong>Dwayne Johnson</strong> after their successful buddy comedy "<strong>Central Intelligence</strong>." While we don't think it's too bad, we dive into the ways they could have improved the film. Finally, we move onto the infamous "<strong>Waterworld</strong>," that sees <strong>Kevin Costner</strong> and director <strong>Kevin Reynolds</strong> coming back after the success of "<strong>Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves</strong>," and the rest, well, you probably know the story.
