Gander Establishes Itself as an Airport Town

With the province becoming a part of Canada, the federal Department of Transport relocated the Air Traffic Control Oceanic Centre from Moncton NB to Gander plus the addition of an RCAF Norad Radar Base . The town was becoming established as a legitimate town with public sporting facilities, two movie cinemas, and a stadium renovated from the original RCAF WWII drill hall.
