Further Progress Needed To Ensure Retention Of Shannon Aviation Search And Rescue Crew

A Clare Senator claims there is still a long way to go to ensure the retention of this county's coast guard search and rescue aviation units. It comes as negotiations continue between Brsitow Ireland and crew members of at Shannon, Dublin Weston, Sligo and Waterford after the company obtained the state search and rescue aviation contract. Under transfer of Employment Regulations (TUPE) Bristow LTD is legally obliged to take on existing employees on their current terms and conditions , however the legislation does not apply to factors such as pension packets. Mountshannon Fianna Fáíl Senator Timmy Dooley believes it is crucial that experienced and skilled personnel remain in place.
