Former Clare Student President Calls For Government Focus On Affordable Accommodation

A Clare former Student Union President claims government policy has created a two-tiered experience at third level. With higher level students of all years returning to their respective institutions this week, thousands are facing the prospect of couch surfing or a lenghty commute, as all purpose built student units in the country are currently occupied. In the last year alone, the scarcity of student housing has led to Gardaí recording a 38% surge in accommodation fraud. Former UCD Students President and Clarecastle native , Ruairí Power believes that many are missing out on important social and education opportunities as a result.
