Tuesday 18 May    Fighting Prayer 2 We have an enemy out there, an enemy of the Cross, God, Christians and mankind. He is the devil and the only way we can have victory over him is to contend with him and conquer him by exercising our authority in Christ. The process of doing this through prayer is what we call “Fighting Prayer;” some people call it “spiritual warfare” but for this discussion we are calling it “Fighting Prayer.”   Even though we are in Christ and He has given us the victory through the cross, we still have the powers of hell to contend with. Some Christians believe there is nothing like spiritual warfare and there are others who see the devil in everything and exaggerate his abilities but positions are faulty. The truth is, the devil is a defeated foe but if we are ignorant of our authority and what Christ has done for us, the devil will take advantage of that. So, we must continually grow in our understanding of the authority we have in Christ and exercise it over the powers of hell. And Fighting Prayer is a platform to do that.   Ephesians 6: 12 (NLT), For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and evil spirits in the heavenly places.   Apostle Paul is saying that we are in a fight but we are not fighting against human beings. We are in a fight with the forces of darkness. Using Fighting Prayer, we call God into our battle; get His partnership, get angelic assistance of and exercise our dominion of the kingdom of darkness so we can walk in the victory that God won for us in Christ.   By God’s grace and mercy, all through this week, we will be discussing this and I trust God that as you understand and practice this type of prayer, you will come into a new level of authority, power and victory over the forces of darkness in Jesus’ name.
