FIFA to pay Al-Hilal £6.5million after Neymar’s ACL injury

<p>FIFA may end up paying Al-Hilal £6.5million after Neymar suffered a season-ending injury while on international duty with Brazil.</p>, <p>Neymar had to be stretchered off during the first half of their 2-0 defeat to Uruguay.</p>, <p>Al-Hilal later confirmed that the 30-year-old has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and will have to undergo surgery.</p>, <p>The world football’s governing body has an insurance policy, the FIFA Club Protection Programme (CPP), that will pay a player’s salary from 28 days to a year with a maximum of £6.5m if they are injured while on international duty.</p>, <p>This means the policy will have to hand that maximum figure over to Al-Hilal.</p>, <p>An injured Neymar will cost Al-Hilal much more than £6.5million, however. The Brazilian is on a contract that will cost a reported £276million over a two-year spell.</p>
