Female Hip Hop artists: Why do they put them against each other?

This is a question I always wondered. But seeing Nicki Minaj on her Instagram Live talking how they told her she shouldn't work with other female artists reminded me of the topic? Why does this happen? Nicki showing love and working with a new female Hip Hop artist shows me they are wrong and we should show love.
