FBI AND THE PLOT TO KIDNAP A GOVERNOR<br /><br />Refresher: Do you remember the story last September about a militia group who plotted to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer? The kidnapping was ultimately thwarted by the FBI before it took place. <br /><br />Bombshell: A report by BuzzFeed News (of all places) suggests that the FBI didn't just investigate... undercover FBI agents took an active role in planning and executing the plot to kidnap the governor. And members of the militia group [who call themselves the 'Wolverine Watchmen' ] are saying it was a case of entrapment. <br /><br />Buzzfeed wrote: "Working in secret, [the FBI informants] did more than just passively observe and report on the actions of the suspects. Instead, they had a hand in nearly every aspect of the alleged plot, starting with its inception. The extent of their involvement raises questions as to whether there would have even been a conspiracy without them."<br /><br />How it went down: All in all 12 of the 18 men involved in the plot were FBI informants. <br /><br />One informant from Wisconson organized the initial meetings where the plot took form. This FBI informant even went as far as to pay for hotel rooms and food to entice people to attend this meeting.<br />Another informant, an Iraq War veteran, was so involved that he became the number two in command of the group. He taught the men military tactics to use in the operation.<br />Another FBI agent advised the militia group on how to blow up a bridge so they could cut off police as they escaped with the Governor.<br />Lawyers for the militia say the informants and the undercover agents gained the confidence of the defendants, stirred their anger at Whitmer, and encouraged them to conspire in the plot, even going as far as steering the conversation away from other subjects to how to carry out the kidnapping.<br /><br />My thoughts: I think Whitmer is one of the most tyrannical and inept governors in our country.
