Evolving Gracefully, with Lucy Chang Evans

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lucy Chang Evans is a civil engineer, but the most unique employer on her resume was the U.S. Secret Service. After seven years as a civil engineer, Evans decided to make a career change to fulfill her patriotic duty by becoming a Secret Service agent. It was a fulfilling experience, but after a year and a half, she made the difficult decision to leave the profession to build a family. Ten years later, Evans found herself in the middle of a divorce. She had been a stay-at-home mom and had no relatives or professional contacts nearby. Her kids were ages 8, 5, and 2.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After months of job searching, Evans landed her first job interview in 13 years. She got the job and got her life back on track. Evans was able to overcome the ten-year gap in her work history by returning to her original career as a civil engineer.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Last year, Evans left the workforce again. This time she left to pursue an online MBA and help her children navigate e-learning at home during the pandemic. She also ran a bid to win a seat on the City Council in Naperville, Illinois. After she completes her MBA, Evans looks forward to re-emerging with even more knowledge, skills, and abilities at her disposal.
