EPL: ‘We’re in the dark’ – Eddie Howe gives verdict on Newcastle’s winning goal against Arsenal

<p>Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe, has shared his thoughts on Anthony Gordon’s controversial winner against Arsenal in Saturday’s Premier League tie.</p>, <p>Newcastle defeated Arsenal 1-0 at home in a Premier League fixture St James’ Park.</p>, <p>Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was left absolutely angry at the decision to award Newcastle the goal, describing it as a ‘disgrace and embarrassing’ in a meltdown over VAR.</p>, <p>VAR officials took more than four minutes to make the decision, running checks on three possible offences.</p>, <p>Those included if Newcastle winger Gordon was offside, if the ball had gone out of play during the build-up to Gordon’s goal and if Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes was fouled by Joelinton.</p>, <p>Asked for his thoughts on Newcastle’s goal, Howe told Sky Sports after the game: “We are in the dark, we are stood by the side of the pitch seeing VAR on the screen but with no pictures.</p>, <p>“I have not seen anything other than what I saw at the time. It looked a good goal to me.”</p>
