<p>Laurence Clifton Jones moved to the Deep South at a time when it was dangerous to be a black man in Mississippi. He chose to make the move to do what some considered to be impossible - build a school for children of color in rural Rankin County. He would face cultural and financial struggles and miraculously survive a lynching in pursuit of his dream.
