George Berkeley would say that if a tree falls in a forest, and no one perceives the tree, then the tree didn't even exist in the first place. Berkeley is often known as the father of Idealism. Berkeley believed that there is no such thing as physical matter. All that exists, according to Berkely, are ideas.
