Episode 43: Called Out of Hiding

<p class="p1">In Episode 43, “Called Out of Hiding,”  Kim discusses God’s call of Gideon out of hiding into his call to courageous leadership.</p> <p class="p2"> </p> <p class="p1">The primary scripture text for this episode is Judges 6:11-12, which sets the stage for the story of Israel’s next judge, Gideon.</p> <p class="p2"> </p> <p class="p1">11 Then the angel of the Lord came and sat beneath the great tree at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash of the clan of Abiezer. Gideon son of Joash was threshing wheat at the bottom of a winepress to hide the grain from the Midianites. 12 The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!” (Judges 6:11-12)</p> <p class="p2"> </p> <p class="p1">24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” (Matthew 7:24-27)</p> <p class="p2"> </p> <p class="p1">Gideon was hiding from physical danger in the bottom of a winepress.
