Episode 16: Mountain Men

We're talking about the animal...lol. Beaver fur was highly sought after for making men's hats and other items.</p> <p>After they were hunted to near extinction and silk replaced the beaver fur, the mountain men led the pioneers to the Pacific Coast.</p> <p>Sherry and Marshall talk about some of the men, the dangers, whiskey and trading, and the rendezvous (pictured).</p> <p><strong>This show's lagniappe:</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Whiskey Toddy</strong></p> <p>Serves 1</p> <p>1/2 teaspoon sugar</p> <p>1 teaspoon water</p> <p>1–2 ice cubes</p> <p>1 wine glass of whiskey (6 ounces)</p> <p>Place sugar in a whiskey glass and add the water. Stir to dissolve and then add the ice. Pour the whiskey into the glass and stir.
