Description

At age 33, Marxist–Leninist, Pan-Africanist, and Communist Revolutionary Thomas Sankara became the President of Republic of Upper Volta. After immediately launching vital social, ecological, and economic programs, he shed Upper Volta's French Colonial past and renamed the country, Burkina Faso ("Land of Incorruptible People"), where he rules from 1983 to 1987. A charismatic yet humble leader, Sankara was a virulent anti-imperialist, and believed in the self-sufficiency of his country, and his people, against western, and capitalist influences. On this Epoch, we discuss Sankara's legacy, his policies and their impact on Burkina Faso, and the Pan-African movement. Before that, we cover the final moments of the Markey/Kennedy primary race, and LE highlights the phenomenon of COVID songs.

For a full list of songs featured and sources for our Sankara discussion, please visit this link.
For Scott's list of movie recommendations, go here.

Check out our Patreon for bonus content and access to our Discord.

Please visit comrade-rosie.org for resources in the greater Boston area.
