Ep. 20: A Black Woman Asked Me How I Was Doing

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ever have an experience that moves you to your core?</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I did a week ago with one of my podcast guests Kimblyn Harris. The display of radical compassion that she displayed to me is one that I will likely never forget.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I recorded this shortly after I broke down crying, so the emotion in my voice is raw and authentic.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Compassion is a courageous selfless act.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Compassion enables connection.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Compassion is what we need now more than ever.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Compassion is the prerequisite for us to see outside of our experience.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Black Lives Matter.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But only after we can genuinely embody compassion.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Until then, it’s just a bunch of white people scrambling to make up for, and soothe, their generational shame & guilt.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s okay for us to stumble our way through this - it’s the only way, in fact.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But we need to understand what true compassion is.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Until then, we’ll continue the cycle(s) of pain.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">My hope is that by sharing my experience, I can pass along even a fraction of the impact that it had on me.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I humbly ask you to truly internalize this and proceed to share the message, or act, with others in a way that makes sense to you.</span></p> <p>-</p> <p>Kimblyn's Info:</p> <p><a href="http://www.artfullyhealed.org/"><span style= "font-weight: 400;">www.artfullyhealed.org</span></a></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">IG:</span> <a href= "http://www.instagram.com/iamartfullyheale
