Ennis Based Treatment Facility Believes Problem Drinking Can Be Passed Onto Children

An Ennis based treatment facility is warning problem drinking can become a generational issue for families. Recent data from Alcohol Action Ireland shows almost 1 million people in Ireland grew up with a problem drinker in the home. The Adverse Childhood Experience study also found a strong link between post-traumatic stress disorder and having a problem drinker in the household. Deputy Manager at Bushypark Addiction Treatment Centre, Maedhbh Firmino da Silva Santos, says a parent's drinking habits can be absorbed by children.
