Ennis based Road Haulier Claims Excise Duty Reasonable Due to Levelling Off Fuel Prices
2freshles
Description
The Clare based President of the Irish Road Hauliers Association claims the reinstatment of excise duty is reasonable due to the recent levelling off in fuel prices. The price of Petrol & Diesel will increase by 6c & 5c per litre respectively from midnight as part of the first of a three phased reintroduction of the tax. The cut was first implemented in January of last year as costs soared to over €2 per litre following supply chain complications arising on the back of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Ennis native Eugene Drennan says he has received assurances from the department that mitigating measures will be revisited if fuel prices spiral again in the future.
