
EndSARS: Access Bank renovates burnt VIO building

<p>Access Bank has renovated a four-office building at Vehicle Inspection Service zonal office in Ojodu, Lagos State, that was burnt during #EndSARS crisis in 2020.</p>, <p>While handing over the refurbished building to the management of the VIS in Lagos, Access Bank noted that it was committed to adding value to the community.</p>, <p>An Executive Director of the bank, Iyabo Soji-Okunsanya, said Lagos State is a state that others should emulate, and it was a priviledge to hand over the building to the VIS.</p>, <p>“The donation of this building is to support their work so that they can serve the community were they operate from,” she said.</p>, <p>Executives of the VIS were present at the event, and appreciated Access Bank for refurbishing the building.</p>, <p>Jumoke Wale-Sebiomo of Access Bank, said, the bank started the project in 2020 after the building was destroyed during the riot.</p>, <p>She said, “We have impacted in the past in different aspects of the society including schools and others. So, when #EndSARS happened, we decided to assist with the VIO building that was destroyed then.</p>, <p>“We decided to refurbish a four-office block because the fire destroyed about 80 per cent of the building. We thank VIO for the collaboration and our team for achieving this.”</p>, <p>While appreciating the gesture, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Abdulhafiz Toriola, said, “It is, however, a joyful moment for us as a government to witness the birth of this building as part of the recovery process. As a worthy partner, Access Bank took this project very closely to heart and delivered this state-of-the-heart facility to the state government.</p>, <p>“On behalf of the State Government and the good people of the state, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Access Bank for the benevolence and unwavering commitment to the present administration THEME agenda and our institutions.”</p>
