Election results: Charly Boy reveals plan to join, take protest to next level

<p>Legendary Beninese singer-songwriter, Angélique Kidjo, has been announced as a co-recipient of the 2023 Polar Music Prize.</p>, <p>“Soon I will be joining my courageous youths to take our peaceful rally to the next level”.</p>, <p>Angélique Kidjo is now the most-awarded female artist in Africa, with over 150 laurels, including five Grammys.</p>, <p>The first African to win the award was Miriam Makeba of South Africa in 2002, followed by Senegalese singer, Youssou N’Dour in 2013.</p>, <p>Kidjo becomes only the third African to win the prize, which is awarded annually to individuals, groups and institutions in recognition of exceptional musical achievements.</p>, <p>The 62-year-old bagged the prestigious Swedish music award alongside British music executive, Chris Blackwell, and Estonian composer, Arvo Pärt.</p>, <p>DAILY POST reports that supporters of the Labour Party and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have continued to stage protests in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, seeking the cancelation of the election that produced Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the president-elect.</p>, <p>Famous Nigerian singer and activist, Charles Oputa, known by his stage name, Charly Boy, has revealed plan to join the ongoing protest that followed the outcome of the February 25 presidential elections.</p>, <p>The supporters, who are known as Obidients, had alleged that the results of the election was manipulated to favour the ruling party.</p>, <p>The winners will receive a cash award of 600,000 kronor ($57,700) each.</p>, <p>In a tweet on Wednesday, Charly Boy, a socio-political activist, lauded the protesters, saying he would soon join the protest to take it to another level.</p>, <p>He wrote, “I am indeed happy with the Obidient Youths and the courageous lovers of Naija. We all are familiar with how great things can be achieved when we work together or when we stand together.</p>
