DSS arrests Rivers monarch over murder of DPO

<p>Operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, have arrested the King of Akoh Kingdom, Rivers State, His Royal Majesty Eze Ikegbidi.</p>, <p>DAILY POST gathered that the arrest, which was carried out on Monday, followed the gruesome murder of the Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, Bako Angbashim, by gunmen suspected to be cultists.</p>, <p>The DPO was killed and beheaded by the assailants on Friday night during an operation with his men in the area.</p>, <p>The arrest of Ikegbidi by the DSS operatives came on the heels of an indefinite suspension slammed on him by the State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara.</p>, <p>Governor Fubara had in a statement, accused the monarch of “ceding control of his territory to the notorious David Gift popularly known as 2-Baba and his gang to freely operate and carry out their criminal activities.”</p>, <p>The Governor had also on the prime suspect, saying anyone with useful information that could lead to his arrest and prosecution should report to relevant authorities.</p>, <p>It was gathered that the monarch was later handed over to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department in Port Harcourt, the State capital, for interrogation.</p>, <p>When contacted by DAILY POST, The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko said she does not have details of the arrest.</p>, <p>She promised to revert with details later.</p>
