Dr. Tyson Becker: Preparing Combat Surgeons for Difficult Operative Situations and Tough Battlefield Decision Making

<p>Dr. Tyson Becker is a fellowship trained Army trauma surgeon and consultant to the US Army Surgeon General for General Surgery</p> <p>In this episode he describes how surgeons must be prepared for operating outside their normal comfort with a story about needing to do a neurosurgery in a remote location at 7500 feet when weather prevented evacuation.  He also discusses and provides an example of how combat surgeons must make decisions based on limited supplies that aren’t encountered in stateside civilian practice.
