<p>Deion Sanders is widely regarded as one of the most electrifying and talented football players of all time. He played professionally for 14 years, and was a two-time Super Bowl champion and eight-time Pro Bowl selection. His career began at Florida State University, where he was a three-time All-American.<br> <br> At Florida State, Sanders was a standout athlete and a leader on the field. He was a two-time Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and he was named a first-team All-American in 1987. He was also the first player in Jackson State history to have his jersey retired.<br> <br> Sanders decided to leave Jackson State for the University of Colorado. This decision was controversial, as many felt that Sanders had a responsibility to remain at Jackson State and help the program grow. Sanders, however, felt that the University of Colorado offered him a better opportunity to develop as a coach and prepare for the NFL.<br> <br> At Florida State, Sanders was an immediate star. He was a two-time All-Big Eight selection, and he was named a first-team All-American in 1989. He also set the NCAA single-season record for punt return yards with 517.
