Don't Call Me Complicated

In today's episode, I share a recent experience where I went for treatment and was told repeatedly by the provider that I was "complicated" and a "doctor's worst nightmare." No one, especially those living with autoimmunity such as myself, wants to be referred to as "complicated" or a "doctor's worst nightmare." It is already a difficult journey coming to a diagnosis of autoimmunity and then learning how to navigate managing your symptoms each day. Our words have power, and they can either uplift, or bring down someone's resolve, spirit, and perspective.
