Djane Austen (https://soundcloud.com/djane-austen) United We Rise Podcast Nr. 065 🗯🗯 How Did Corona change your artist life? 🗯🗯 Last year during the first lockdown, after the first DJ-livestreams got boring pretty quickly, I lost my motivation to make music. There was no crowd around, no more people from our HCIT collective, there were no emotions transported through that little window for chatting. That frustrated me for a little while. So at first, I decided to concentrate at first on my mental well-being and coping with the situation by myself. As we all got accustomed to this new way of living I found back to making music again. In that time I figured out that creating podcasts became my favorite substitute for gigs and parties. 🗯🗯 Where did you record the mix and how did you feel? 🗯🗯 I recorded this set at home - where else? ¯\_( • ‿ • )_/¯ - in my WG-bedroom in Erlangen. From time to time I become sad that I don't have real gigs anymore, but lately the thought came into my mind, that I'm not longer sure if I still would be practiced enough to DJ-ing live. Doing podcasts is very different for me. I love being focused on one podcast for hours, days and weeks, sometimes until late at night. I have fun improving it until it becomes exactly the way I want it to be; to cut it here and there, to transform the tracks, to work with four decks and sometimes making transitions, that would never ever work for me in live DJ-ing. That's what I like about doing podcasts. I can take my time, return to it several times. Of course this practice has its own downsides. Like sometimes my obsession for perfection wins the upper hand and maybe wants too much. But let's not speak of the downsides, haha. 🗯🗯 What are your wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯 I can only echo the statements that have already been expressed by other artists here on this channel!
