<p>David Ian Howe is an Anthropologist, Archaeologist and Cynologist. The kid loves digging up the earth for historical artifacts and dog bones. He studies the historical relationship between man and dog and how we evolved together. Originally from Long Island, he’s now based out of Nashville. Without our partner in survival, doggies, we would no have evolved to become civilized and dominate the planet. Humans have NOT been the apex predator for most of our existence. With the help of dogs, we warded off predators, hunted together, they helped us settle down and farm by herding and protecting our crops, and enabled us to sit around and develop our neocortex. Dogs are truly the most magical animal. Hug your dog tight and enjoy this chat. </p><p><br></p><p>David Ian Howe (B.A., Anthropology, University of Tennessee; M.A., Anthropology, University of Wyoming) serves as an Assistant Lab Manager in the Augusta VCP. A Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA), David has conducted archaeology at multiple sites in Kentucky, Tennessee, and South Carolina as well as sites in Wyoming. David’s emphasis is on lithic technology and the Paleoindian and pre-Paleo cultural horizons. He has worked for several seasons at the Topper site in South Carolina and also participated in the Southeastern Paleoamerican survey project. Prior to joining the VCP, David worked for universities and cultural resource management firms, including work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District and New South Associates on archaeological excavations of the Wix-Howard Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>LongDays is a weekly podcast by come
