Today Kim Hegwood will be visiting with Sue Minello an RN at UTMB about this subject. Some of the things they will be discussing are:</p> <p>1. She was a Certified Diabetes Educator for 15 years. This was an exciting time for persons with Diabetes. New therapies/treatment goals/prevention with both "new Oral Agents &amp; Insulin" formulations were hitting the market in the '80s &amp; '90s. As an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Sue enjoyed educating patients and families on lifestyle changes and prevention of Diabetes and complications.</p> <p>Palliative Care and Research with Chronic Diseases became Sue’s focus later in her nursing career. She has been involved in many clinical trials, both pharmaceutical and through the NIH &amp; National Institute on Aging. Sue's current passion is Dementia Care. She currently works with UTMB Health's Sealy Center on Aging. Sue is recruiting and following Caregivers in an 18-month clinical trial that compares three programs for people with dementia, and their caregivers.
