A week ago I got a mini-cassette recorder off of eBay for something like $25 and I digitized a bunch of these micro cassettes I had. My dad had a micro cassette dictaphone when we were little and when he didn't have a secretary, which is what they called them in those days, it just sat in his office. Then years later my sister and I found it and started playing with it. One of the pieces I play here is from a tape that had me and some guy named Eric talking for about an hour. I don't even know who Eric is. At one point we say to my sister that we hate each other but we just hang out cuz no one else is around. That's how neighborhoods worked in the old days. You were much more tolerant of people you didn't like to the point where you'd spend the whole day playing video games.

So there's that and an old 4 track recording of a song I did with Steve about kissing a man. There's also an old cassette I found of me jamming with Rick Finn. When you're a young musician you're encouraged to record yourself so you can hear yourself and have a somewhat objective opinion. It's the best way to improve. I don't know what people did before recording devices existed. They probably just endured endless criticisms. That must be why the Amish always look so depressed.
Support the show
hunchbunny.com
