<p>Boston were wrong [More than a feeling?]</p> <p><br> <br> We're on a mission to help one million people RISE by 2030 - join the movement at <a href="http://www.myrise.co.uk/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.myrise.co.uk</a></p> <p><br></p> <p>Who remembers the band Boston?</p> <p>I’ll be honest, I don’t.</p> <p>I couldn’t’ tell you a single thing about them.</p> <p>Other than the name of one of their songs that I have on my general playlist.</p> <p>“More than a feeling”.</p> <p>Talking about the singer’s memories of a girl called Marianne.</p> <p>And how they are “more than a feeling”.</p> <p>They’re not though, are they?</p> <p>They are just a feeling, aren’t they?</p> <p>‘Feeling’ being defined as “an emotional state or reaction”</p> <p>And ’emotion’ being “a strong feeling deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationships with others”……………</p> <p>State “the particular condition that someone or something is in at a specific time.”</p> <p>By definition, just a feeling.</p> <p>A temporary one.</p> <p>Like all emotions.</p> <p>Temporary states.</p> <p>Governed by the “law of impermanence”.</p> <p>Transient</p> <p>Inconstant.</p> <p>Things that come and go.</p> <p>When we view any emotion as being anything but a temporary state, we’re probably setting ourselves up for a harder time with them.</p> <p>They are just feelings.</p> <p>Feelings we may have more than we’d like, sure.</p> <p>That we are, perhaps, more pre-disposed to than others.</p> <p>That, maybe, come to us more readily and we find harder to let go of.</p> <p>But feelings nonetheless.</p> <p>Temporary states.</p> <p>We don’t describe some feelings with terms of permeance</p> <p>So why others?</p> <p>We never say we “have happiness”.</p> <p>Or talk about “my joy”.</p> <p>So why describe feelings like depression and anxiety the same way?</p> <p>Not to dismiss or minimise them, but does describing them as things we “have” or “my……” set us up for viewing them in the way that serves us best?</p> <p>Can they not just be emotions that we’re feeli
