<p>This is Vaccine 411, the latest coronavirus vaccine information for June 10th, 2021.</p><p><br></p><p>Yesterday we told you San Francisco might be the first major city to reach herd immunity. But yesterday Seattle’s Mayor declared 70% of that city’s residents 12+ have been fully vaccinated. The effort now is to get Seattle fully reopened and people supporting local small retailers and restaurants, arts and culture programming, and transit.</p><p><br></p><p>U.S. taxpayers will apparently buy 500 million more doses of the Pfizer vaccine, all to be shared through the COVAX alliance. The vaccines will go to 92 lower income countries and the African Union over the next year.</p><p><br></p><p>Many countries still have a tough road ahead and Haiti is one of them. It initially confounded health experts with low infection and death rates despite a weak public health system, a total lack of vaccines, and rejection of safety measures. But now it’s in trouble, with the few hospitals swamped and turning away patients. Haiti is experiencing its largest spike of the pandemic.</p><p><br></p><p>The UK is on edge, recording the highest number of new cases in a single day since February. There are now fears of a third wave. The four nations had 7,540 cases in 24 hours, up 74% from a week ago. The Prime Minister will decide soon on whether England can go ahead with its planned full reopening June 21.</p><p><br></p><p>Those who have survived COVID and don’t want to get a vaccine are embracing a story yesterday about a Cleveland Clinic study of healthcare providers. It found anyone who previously tested positive got no additional benefits from the vaccine. During the study of over 52,000 employees, not a single incidence of infection was observed in previously infected participants, regardless of whether or not they’d been vaccinated.
