Contrary Passages? - 220409

<p>Jesus told wailing mourners that Jairus&rsquo;s daughter was not dead, but sleeping&mdash;then He raised her from the dead. When Lazarus was dead, Jesus told His disciples that Lazarus sleeps, and He was going to wake him up&mdash;in perhaps the most spectacular public miracle of His ministry, Jesus then raised Lazarus from the dead. These stories seem to be solid proof of Jesus teaching death is like a sleep. There are, however, other sections of scripture, which are often used to advocate for a &lsquo;sleepless&rsquo; death and doctrines of an immortal soul.
