Back in my early years in the sales game, I didn’t know any better. I didn't know that a good salesperson should be curious and actually have a conversation. When I was selling commercial printing and first learning B2B sales, I had this whole three-ring binder of rubbish. It was basically a printed PowerPoint. And I would go to these big companies, sit down and go through the whole damn thing, talking the whole damn time. Then it hit me. I was spending so much time talking about my presentation, that I hadn’t even bothered to listen to what the buyer needed. You’ll close more sales if you hear what they need. It’s all about Active Listening, folks.
