Clare Women Raise Awareness Surrounding World Kidney Day

On Thursday's Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Aine Mae Crowley who is a transplant recipient based in Milltown Malbay who received a kidney and pancreas in 2017 along with Nuala Conway who's own son Jayden received a kidney from her partner Denis last year. Aine and Nuala both described their stories in order to raise awareness surrounding World Kidney Day. Aine discussed her own journey in waiting for a kidney and pancreas transplant which lasted 1 year and 9 months. She spoke about her fortune in finally receiving the life changing transplant and mentioned her battle with diabetes since the young age of 7. Nuala focused on her own son's journey in waiting for a kidney transplant that would also change his life. She described the burden that was placed on Jayden as a result of being on dialysis for 13 months along with expressing her delight regarding her partner being a suitable kidney donor to Jayden. The pair also raised awareness surrounding the 'Human Tissue Bill'.
