Description

Clare's Fianna Fáil Senator insists more semi-permanent accommodation should be made available to house reefugees and asylum seekers, in an effort to free up hotel accommodation in the tourist sector. It comes after 1 billion euro has been diverted to state efforts to accommodate those fleeing the war in Ukraine. The supplementary estimate agreed by the Government will help the Department of Integration cover the costs of housing Ukrainians and other people seeking international protection. Tulla-based Senator Timmy Dooley says with no sign of the Russian invasion ending in the short term, medium term accommodation in modular units could help take pressure off the tourism sector.
