Description

The Clare Pyrite Action Group has told an Oireachtas Committee that the Enhanced Concrete Defective Block Scheme won't come close to offering full redress to affected homeowners in the county. The grant will offer a maximum payment of €420,000 to households here to either rebuild or carry out remedial works at their dwellings. However any costs incurred for sourcing alternative accommodation and consultancy fees will be detracted from the final payment while no provision has yet been made for repairs to foundations. Around one thousand homeowners in Clare are affected by the mineral and Clare Pyrite Action Group Chair, Dr Martina Clearly believes the shortfalls will severely penalise vulnerable families.
