Clare Independent TD Claims Rural Planning Regulations Will Cause Public Uprising

A Clare Independent TD says 'discriminatory' planning regulations are a placing an unneccessary burden on the livelihoods of farmers. The Rural Independents Group brought a motion before Dáíl Eireann yesterday aiming to implement new rural planning guidelines in the hopes of expediting residential planning applications on farmland. Meanwhile current planning regulations in Clare , only allow the construction of a residential dwelling on farmlands if the agricultural land meets sufficient size criteria. Speaking in the Dáíl, Scariff based Deputy Michael McNamarra claims such restrictions are dispraportinately affecting farmers.
