Clare FG Councillor Claims Dentists Unable To Work Effectively Due To Staff Shortages

A Clare member of the Regional Health Forum claims dentists are unable to do their work effectively due to staff shortages in the sector. Renewed calls have been made for a recruitment push in the dental sector with just eight dentists on the medical card scheme in this county compared to 15 six months ago. Nationwide, there is just one dentist for every 4,700 medical card holders. Ennis Councillor Mary Howard believes action must be taken to improve numbers in dentistry before the sector reaches crisis point.
