Description

Clare County Council insists there is no cause for concern following the loss of a globally recognised blue flag at a landmark West Coast destination. Cappagh Beach was the only site in the county which failed to retain it's blue flag status for 2023 as a recent EPA report, showed the site recorded only a 'good water' quality rating in 2022. Eight of the counties beaches maintained the premium accreditation for standards of excellence relating to water quality, facilities for visitors and beach management at an awards ceremony in Dublin yesterday afternoon. Acting Director of Services at Clare County Council ,Siobhán McNulty says the Kilrush beach is still in optimal condition for swimming and the local authority will take action to ensure a clean sweep of blue flags for the 2024 summer bathing season.
