Claims East Clare Tourism Sector Let Down By Failure To Maintain Hedges Over Summer Months

Description
It's been argued Clare County Council must change tack next summer when it comes to hedge maintenance on one of East Clare's major routes. The local authority has come under fire following claims that vegetation on the main road from Killaloe to Tuamgraney was not cleared this year until after the summer, at which point the peak tourism season had concluded. Looking ahead to next summer, Whitegate Councillor Pat Burke has asked the local authority to keep the road "free of vegetation so that tourists and locals can enjoy this scenic area whether cycling or walking". The Fine Gael representative says it was extremely disappointing for both tourists and tourism-dependent businesses that the route wasn't adequately maintained this summer.
