Description

The ridge of high pressure over the Plains and cut-off low parked over the mid-Mississippi Valley will remain a blocking feature through Friday and into Saturday until the trough and low-pressure out west comes over the Rockies over the weekend. This will continue the sunny, dry, and unseasonably warm weather conditions over the Tri-state area. Today we will see stronger south-southeast winds with the low to the east and approaching trough from the west converging over the area. Winds lighten tomorrow and turn more northerly, but daytime highs still will reach into the low 80’s with overnight lows in the upper 40’s. Friday winds turn back to the west and south warming temperatures further into the mid-80’s and carry into Saturday. Saturday night into early Sunday the upper-level trough and cold front out west finally push through the Plains with cooler more seasonal temperatures and some chances for lighter scattered precipitation not enough to move the needle on the moderate to severe drought over the area.
