Changing Times Ag Wx; Extreme Drought Taking Tool on Ground Water Supply; Continues to be Windy and Dry the Rest of April

<p>The dry and windy April and extreme drought is starting to really show effects on crops and grassland and now starting to take its toll on groundwater supply.     The annual Kansas Geological Survey report shows 1 to 3 ft declines over the last year in northwest Kansas and as much as 10 feet in southwest Kansas where area of exceptional drought is being reported by the US Drought monitor.   These are the largest declines since 2013 and 2015.  Current USDA State crop progress reports still show topsoil and subsoil moisture numbers at 63% and 66% short or very short in supply   and 67% of the winter wheat crop remans rated very poor to fair.        </p>
