Change Request | Sidewalk Feat. Gil-Scott Heron [Maxi-Single] Originally released in June of 2018, Change Request's "Emotive Emotion EP" on Natural Rhythm Music (NRM019) featured three unique originals—span the range of house music—that would be the debut of the inaugural release of my first musical Etudes and written almost three years before, in self-imposed creative isolation. These three tracks represented the first three to be released from my multi-year long compositional exposition into sound design and discovery. During this period, I was getting burned out on the process I had developed over two decades to make top-quality records that were highly effective at what they were designed for. The Etudes Of Isolation | Process-Oriented Production Series By Change Request // Andrew Emil [Premiered On June 22nd, 2018] I essentially stop taking on production projects for hire and dedicated myself to the commitment that was going to composer a piece of incidental music every day—every emotion I was feeling right there, regardless of BPM, mood, feel, tempo, etc—and archive it with no plans to release any of it. The goal was to keep collecting all of these momentary Etudes that captured these momentary experiences and feelings until I had enough assets to start conceiving what types of stories I wanted to tell with many long from album formats. Full-length LPs that could cover a lot of emotional ground, dynamically and effectively, I would write the album concepts/scripts at a later date, then reach into my archives and pull out the music that fit the narrative, a sort of reverse scoring process. This multi-year segment of work saw the more prolific period yet of my record production career, as I wrote 187 pieces of archived music in just under thirty months. This would later form the foundations for six-length LPs, 2019’s “RiteOnRed” on Dufflebag Recordings, 2019-2020’s Multi-Part LP Collection Of Nocturnes, “Neural Nocturnes”, 2020’s Change Request | Theoretical Certainty LP, 2021’s Change Request's All
