Election is this Sunday, Oct. 12, and guess who finally decided to show face after 2 years of silence, Paul Biya himself ooo! 😳🤦🏾‍♀️ For two whole years, Cameroonians didn’t hear from their president — not one campaign, nothing. Instead of showing up, they made statues of him and his wife to attend rallies on his behalf! If that’s not the height of “I no send you,” I don’t know what is 😩. And as if that’s not enough, the leading opposition is 76 years old — Issa Tchiroma Bakary — another old face from Biya’s own government. The people are hopeful for change, but also worried: “If he starts at 76, what happens at 80+?” To my non-Cameroonian people watching this, please — don’t judge them. Four decades under a dictator changes a nation’s soul. But even so, history has shown that the people can rise.
