Description
On Tuesday's Morning Focus, Alan was joined by John Wall who is living with stage IV prostate cancer along with Deirdre Clune who is an Ireland South Member of European Parliament. The duo discussed the 'Right to be Forgotten' bill which will assist cancer survivors when accessing mortgages and life insurance after recovery. John described the meaning of the bill which will see cancer survivors no longer having to disclose previous cancer diagnosis to banks and insurance companies. He highlighted his own personal difficulty with accessing a mortgage and life insurance after his diagnosis and stated some of the various issues he experienced. He also explained how the current financial system in place does not assist anyone who is ill. Deirdre discussed Ireland's reluctance to bring the bill into place and highlighted how the Government are waiting on the European Parliament to approve the bill. She made reference to the various European countries where the bill is in place and believes that it is only a matter of time before the bill is approved in Ireland.
