Busy summer planned for Parksville’s outdoor community theatre

<p>Host Peter McCully welcomes Parksville Beach Festival Society President Cheryl Dill and entertainment director Lloyd Derry to the podcast.</p> <p>Dill updated the amount of community donations that were distributed after last year’s Beachfest event.</p> <p>‘We had great results at the gate. People were very generous. This past year, for the first time, we took donations electronically with the tip tap machine. So, it was a successful year, Peter, and we were able to give back $75,000 to the volunteer groups that staff the gates for us.’</p> <p>The first annual ‘Rock the Park’ event was held in 2022 in addition to the Tim Horton’s Concert series with about 20,000 people attending concerts throughout the five-week period.</p> <p>Lloyd Derry says the Summer concert series will be comprised of eight concerts every Friday and Saturday evenings starting July 20, as well as the main event in August.</p> <p>‘The second annual ‘Rock the Park’ Music Fest from August 11th to 13th, is a tribute to old time rock and roll, classic rock and more.
