<p>David Johansen was the lead singer of the New York Dolls, a highly influential band in the 1970’s that paved the way for glam and punk. After their breakup and a lackluster solo career, David Johansen developed an alter ego, Buster Poindexter, and made an album of calypso and lounge music.
