Building Authentic Connections in Your Industry

Let's talk about networking... or how about, building strong friendships with individual people beyond their job title? That's what Maanuni is all about. Our artist today, Maanuni, is an Indian singer-songwriter, voice artist, and vocal coach. Her passion for music has paved the way to a successful career full of diversity. She has worked on the background scores of multiple Bollywood Movies and a Disney+ web series, collaborated with recording artists from many genres to release music, and is getting ready to release her very own music soon. Maanuni is also a passionate vocal coach who loves to share her knowledge with her students... she’s had over 100 of them! In this episode, Maanuni shares with us the importance of authentic networking and building friendships instead of ‘contacts’ in the music industry, the lessons she’s learned about taking care of her mental health, and she helps us reframe our outlook on “competition” from jealousy to celebration, appreciation and gratitude. We also heard about how the pandemic has affected Maanuni and her family, and the reality of what it’s like living in India during this unfathomable time, especially from an independent artist’s perspective.
