Bite Size Britain #6 - The Chained Oak
SamSpedy
Description
Around 1821, it is believed that the Earl of Shrewsbury fell victim to a beggar woman’s curse after he shunned her appeal for charity whilst he travelled home to Alton, Staffordshire one night. ‘The Chained Oak’ tree still stands as a symbol to this legend. In 2000, Alton Towers theme park adopted their own take on the story in their newest attraction at the time – ‘Hex: The Legend of The Towers’.
