Description

Yesterday September 28, marked the 60th anniversary of one of the greatest moments in Boston Red Sox history, Ted William’s last game as a player where on September 28, 1960, in a game against the Baltimore Orioles, Ted Williams hit a home run in his last at-bat.

Our guest this afternoon to help us commemorate that great day is baseball historian Bill Nowlin who is uniquely qualified to discuss Ted William’s final home. Bill has been a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and was one of the first fans to mob pitcher Jim Lonborg when he pitched the final out of the game that clinched the 1967 pennant for the Red Sox. Bill was elected Vice President of SABR in 2004 and served five terms in that capacity before becoming director in 2016.

In 2013 Bill released “521: Ted Williams’ Home Runs” which discusses the details of all 521 home runs Ted Williams hit in his major league career and also his All-Star game homers, exhibition game homers, and even some homers he hit in high school.
